Terre d’Oc is a French company who originally specialised in home fragrances, incenses and perfumed candles. Today, this has expanded to include a range of natural cosmetics merging the minerals of the earth with the natural oils, colours and fragrances found in the plant world. Created from natural ingredients and untested on animals, Terre d’Oc’s extensive range of products includes a natural makeup collection. An incredible journey: from mushrooms to natural make up
Terre d’Oc was established in 1995, following a meeting with the founders of a French gadget shop in the idyllic French Cevennes area. Although the vision of Terre d’Oc was to introduce the public to the ochres of Provence through various products, there was no inkling of the natural beauty products that were to follow. They came up with various ideas, from a mushroom game to an introductory kit for tree-grafting! The nearest they got to natural cosmetics was designing a box of ochres.
However, in 1997, a new idea came to light marrying the perfumed essential oils of Provence with the exotic aromas of incense from the Orient. The intention was to create a selection of home fragrances with aromas inspired by collective memory and emotions, called Memoire d’un Instant. This led to a range of spray fragrances, reed diffusers, scented pencils, incense cones and other objects which have since become international bestsellers.
The Terre d’Oc dream of bringing the natural pigments of nature to the public’s attention was also taking fruit. They began developing a range of natural cosmetics, based on principles of natural beauty handed down since the dawn of time. Argan oil from Morocco, Shea butter from Africa, Coconut oil from Bali, Pomegranates from India and flowers from the hot springs of Japan all lend their properties to the range of natural cosmetics.
Working in partnership with trusted Fairtrade suppliers, Terre d’Oc have used these ingredients to develop an extensive range of natural beauty products including body balms, face creams, massage oils, and organic hair care products. They have also developed a natural make up collection, Maquillage du Monde.

Terre d’Oc have adapted a truly eco-responsible approach, continuously seeking to reduce energy consumption and the use of consumable resources and minimising waste production. Terre d’Oc also employ eco-design principles in all their natural beauty products. The wood used for packaging and pencils carries FSC labels showing the materials are from managed and certified forests and any inks used on the boxes are solvent-free. Rather than create wastage with separate paper leaflets, instructions are printed on the inside of PLA mineral foundation boxes created from biodegradable corn-based material guaranteed to be GM free.
