Using Varuna to bring natural beauty to your home
Varuna are an Italian company known for their range of aesthetically uplifting home aromatherapy products including the Inspirations range of perfumed reed diffusers and Thai oil lamps. Artistically designed to blend with any room décor, Varuna products use entirely natural ingredients and are suitable for vegans. Cruelty free; Varuna do not test any of their products on animals.
While essential oils are widely used in organic skincare, certain blends can be more beneficial if the active ingredients are inhaled rather than absorbed through the skin. Not only does this freshen and scent the air but means that everyone in the room can enjoy the benefits. It also means there is no risk of skin irritation, which can sometimes happen with natural ingredients such as Cassia. Aromatherapy oils should never be used undiluted on the skin but in a reed diffuser or perfume lamp, this does not prove a problem and the full benefits are realised.

Some room aromatherapy products, such as candles, use direct heat which can destroy the delicate therapeutic benefits of the botanical oils, despite making the room smell nice.

Working on the principle of low-temperature catalytic combustion, in which active molecules are mixed and dispersed with those of the surrounding air, a stone burner can be ignited and the wick extinguished. The unique properties of the stove keep it warm for hours, the aromatics diffusing efficiently into the ambient air but with no actual burning of oils taking place. An additional benefit is that the lamp purifies the air as it scents it, both through the active ingredients of the contents and by the release of low levels of ozone.
Catalytic burners were developed in the late 19th century for use in hospitals, both for their ability to destroy germs, Varuna claim up to 85%, and to eliminate odours. Today, Thai lamps are still widely used as room deodorisers. Available in various beautiful designs, they are inspired by the aesthetic Fragrance Lamps developed by 1920s French designers who wanted to bring the cleansing and purifying effect of institutional lamps into private homes.
Totally natural, the vintage appeal of these modern lamps belies the technology behind their design. In recent years, platinum wick burners have been developed using a catalytic screen to surround the top of the wick. They can be made from many different materials not just stone.

Oils are carried along 12 natural organic bamboo reeds guaranteed free of pesticides and all other chemicals.
