The oldest and probably best known of all organic beauty companies, Tisserand was established by Robert Tisserand, in the 1960s. Back then there was no such thing as organic skin care; natural products just didn’t exist. Robert Tisserand needs no introduction; he is the undisputed world expert in the field of aromatherapy, publishing books and holding seminars around the world. A practicing spiritual healer by the age of 15, he was introduced to aromatherapy by his mother. By 17, he decided he wanted to share the benefits of essential oils with others.

Tisserand – the original hand-made organic skincare company
Robert Tisserand’s natural beauty ranges are today world-renowned – but the first 11 years were difficult. Nonetheless he persevered, painstakingly hand-writing the labels and hand-bottling the oils, before despatching the parcels to his local post-office – naturally, by hand!
Robert Tisserand’s seminal book, The Art of Aromatherapy, was published in 1977. The first non-scientific book covering the subject, it married essential oils to the life-force of nature and the future of the planet; the very ethics of what we at Nature’s Boutique believe in today.
The turning point came in 1985, when a new company, Tisserand’s Aromatherapy Products Ltd, was formed. Robert continued to act as essential oil and formulations consultant – a role he continues to the present day – as well as selling many more books.
Tisserand has expanded enormously since its humble days of hand-labelled, home- bottled oils, with lotions, creams, shower gels and many other natural cosmetics to its name. However, the essence of Tisserand remains the same: to enhance well-being of customers by continuing to produce outstanding natural skin care products, based around tried-and-tested aromatherapy principles which have stood the test of time.
