Sodasan is a German company launched in answer to the growing need for environmentally friendly disinfectants and cleaning agents. Today, Sodasan have expanded their range to include a range of Organic beauty soaps and liquid hand cleansers stocked by us at Nature’s Boutique.

Sodasan: from soap flakes to Organic beauty soaps

The Sodasan story began 25 years ago, when entrepreneurs, Kerstin Stromberg and Jürgen Hack, decided there had to be an alternative to traditional chemical cleaning agents.
They shared a vision: to develop a safe, effective range of domestic cleaning products created from natural ingredients which didn’t harm the environment in either manufacture or use. The business was launched from Allee Farm, an area of extreme natural beauty in the Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany. Dotted with woods, pastures and drainage channels, it was the ideal location to develop their range of eco-friendly detergents and cleansing agents.

Sodasan launched their company with soap flakes made from vegetable oils. Although such products were already being made, there were a growing number of critical consumers looking for a wider range of responsible alternative products for their homes. Eventually, the Sodasan team got the breakthrough they were looking for. They developed an extensive range of effective eco-detergents able to deal with every domestic situation. They included wash powders, fabric conditioners, surface cleansers, dish-washing tablets, washing-up liquids and household soap bars; the forerunner of the Organic beauty soaps that were to follow.

By 2005, Sodasan had become so successful they were forced to relocate to larger, more modern premises where they remain today.

A holistic, caring approach

Right from the start, Sodasan believed their products should not just be eco-friendly; they should also be attractive to those used to industrially made agents too. Over the years, the product range has been continually developed and optimised in their laboratory to meet the needs of discerning consumers. Each product is produced with a focus on ease of use and level of cleaning performance while preserving precious natural resources including water.

Sodasan are committed to the care of both the environment and their customers’ health. All products bear the Ecogarantie label, a proof of compliance with international ecological standards. In addition, all products that may come into contact with the skin have been dermatologically tested with no use of animal testing. Sodasan do not use any products which may prove harmful to either the environment or the user including chlorine-based ingredients, synthetic perfumes and enzymes.

Saving the natural beauty of the planet

From their early beginnings, Sodasan have had a strict environmental policy that promotes economical use of resources, active nature conservation and a preference for natural, plant-based raw materials. The company uses organically cultivated ingredients wherever possible to comply with the EU’s strict organic certification standards. Sodasan unquestioningly support socially responsible agriculture in emerging countries, sourcing their oils, butters and other natural products from Fair-trade suppliers working to organic principles.
Sodasan do everything possible to ensure their carbon footprint is as small as possible, sourcing natural, sustainable ingredients and avoiding the use of synthetic dyes, preservatives and fragrances. Products are animal cruelty-free, using no petrochemicals, chlorine or genetically engineered ingredients. Currently, Sodasan are working closely with environmental and industry groups to develop a universally recognized seal confirming products are totally chemical free.

Sodasan are committed to carbon-neutral production methods, and have certifications from Ecocert, Prima Klima, Ecogarantie, the Vegan Society and Greenpeace – who supply them with all their energy needs. They also use responsible packaging methods, minimising the environmental impact of their products by using Post-Consumer Recycled materials wherever possible, and ensuring both outer and inner packaging is recyclable.

Sodasan natural products - skin care to cleanse without harm

From laundry products to organic beauty, all Sodasan ingredients are thoroughly investigated using the latest technologies so you can be reassured that any product you put on your skin will only be of benefit. Some natural skin care products use carefully disguised words to hide their true nature, however, Sodasan are totally transparent over labelling methods as they feel manufacturers have a responsibility to fully disclose ingredients so people can avoid potential risks.

To complement their organic cleaning and laundry products, Sodasan have developed a range of naturally fragranced organic soap bars and liquid soaps, created using soap kettles and other traditional techniques. Each is a carefully blended mix of natural vegetable ingredients, employing a range of essential oils including Sandalwood, Verbena, Jasmine, Vanilla, Olive, Orange, Lavender, Lime Tree Blossom and Wild Rose.

We at Nature’s Boutique stock the entire Sodasan Organic beauty range including organic cream soap bars, organic glycerine soap bars and organic liquid soap and one for sensitive skin. New to the range is Sodasan Organic Curd Vegetable Soap; a totally natural beauty product made from certified organic palm kernel oil and palm oil. With no added dyes, perfumes or stabilisers, it is perfect for children and those with allergies or sensitive skin.
